Day 1: Arrive at Chennai – Check in at Hotel
• After arriving at the Chennai International Airport/Railway Station, you will be received by our representative and transferred to the hotel. Chennai, originally called Madras, boasts a rich and glorious heritage. Its ancient history is marked by the rule of several Hindu dynasties, the most famous among them being the Pallavas.
• After some rest and relaxation, proceed for a city tour. Some of the places which you will visit include Santhome Church, Kapaleeswarar Temple, Parthasaradhi Temple, Marina Beach. You can also have a conventional South Indian dinner.
• Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Reach Kanchipuram
• Your day starts with a delicious breakfast followed by a drive to Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram finds a mention in the ancient Sanskrit books which declares it to be one of the seven holiest towns of India. It is believed that this town was once home to 1000 temples, out of which, only 126 remain today. The temples which you will visit here are Kanchi Kailasanathar temple, Ekambareswarar Temple and Vaikunta Perumal Temple.
• After this, begin your drive towards Puducherry. After arriving, complete your check-in formalities at the hotel.
You can visit White town to get a glimpse of French architecture, visit war memorial, Dupleix Statue and spend rest of the evening at Promenade Beach
• Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Explore Puducherry
• Get a perfect start to a perfect day, with a delicious breakfast!
• Your day starts with a visit to Auroville in the morning. It was started as an experimental township in 1968 through the combined vision of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. The ultimate ideal is the realization of the Divine through the unification of mankind.
• Later on, you will visit the Eglise de Sacre De Jesus. It was built between the 17th and 18th centuries and draws admiration from visitors with its splendid Gothic architecture. The interiors, which consist of stained glass windows, depict the life of Jesus Christ.
• In the afternoon, head towards the beaches of Puducherry for relaxation and enjoyment.
• Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Visit to Mahabalipuram
Your day starts with a delicious breakfast, Today before you start your drive to Mahabalipuram, you visit other interesting places in Pondicherry i.e., Manakula Vinayakar Temple and Aurobindo Ashram.
Later drive to Mahabalipuram, which is also known as Mamallapuram. It is famous for the Group of Monuments, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the epitome of classical Dravidian Hindu architecture. You will explore the Shore Temple, Pancha Rathas and Arjuna’s Penance, Krishna’s butter ball here.
• Stay overnight at a hotel in Mahabalipuram.
Day 5:Return to Chennai
• Today, you will be transferred to Chennai to resume your onward journey after the breakfast.
Parthasarathy Temple, Chennai: This temple is a 6th-century Hindu Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Vishnu, located at Thiruvallikeni, Chennai, India. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams, said to have been renovated by a King of Pallava dynasty. The temple has icons of five forms of Vishnu: Yoga Narasimha, Rama, Gajendra Varadaraja, Ranganatha, and Krishna as Parthasarathy. It is said that for at least five thousand years, it has been a resting place for pilgrims who had come down from Thirupathy to have a bath in the sea on the days of Solar and Lunar Eclipses, and on other auspicious days it is in a direct line to Thirupathy, Thiruthani, and Trivellore and the route being free from swamps.
Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Chennai: It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Mylapore, Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The temple has numerous shrines, with those of Kapaleeswarar and Karpagambal being the most prominent. The temple was built around the 7th century CE and is an example of Dravidian architecture.
Marina Beach: It is a natural urban beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, along the Bay of Bengal. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south, a distance of 6.0 km, making it the longest natural urban beach in the country. The Marina is primarily sandy, unlike the short, rocky formations that make up the Juhu Beach in Mumbai. It is one of the most crowded beaches in the country.
Ekambareswarar Temple (Kanchipuram): This is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, located in the town of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. It is significant to the Hindu sect of Saivism as one of the temples associated with the five elements, the Pancha Bhoota Stalas. The temple complex covers 25 acres and is one of the largest in India.
Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple: The Kanchi Kailasanathar temple is the oldest structure in Kanchipuram. Located in Tamil Nadu, India, it is a Hindu temple in the Tamil architectural style. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its historical importance. The temple was built from 685-705 AD by a Rajasimha, ruler of the Pallava Dynasty. The structure contains 58 small shrines which are dedicated to various forms of Shiva.
Varadharaja Perumal Temple, Kanchipuram: A Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in the holy city of Kanchipuram. It is one of the Divya Desams, the 108 temples of Vishnu believed to have been visited by the 12 poet saints, or Alwars. One of the greatest Hindu scholars of Vaishnava Vishishtadvaita philosophy, Ramanuja is believed to have resided in this temple. This is one of the most sacred places for Vaishnavites.
Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple: The Kamakshi Temple is an ancient Hindu Temple dedicated to Kamakshi, the ultimate form of Goddess Lalitha Maha Tripurasundari. The Temple was most probably built by the Pallava kings, whose capital was Kanchipuram. There are no other Goddess temples in the city of Kanchipuram, apart from this temple, which is unusual in a traditional city that has hundreds of traditional temples.
Manakula Vinayagar Temple: A popular pilgrimage site and tourist destination in Puducherry, dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple is of considerable antiquity and predates French occupation of the territory. During the tenure of Dupleix, there were attempts to destroy the temple, but it was spared owing to strong protests from the Hindu population and the threat of British and Maratha invasion.
Aurobindo Ashram: Founded in 1926, the Sri Aurobindo Ashram has grown, under the Mother's guidance, from a small group of two dozen disciples into a large and diverse community of almost 1600 members. Counting the 400 students of the Centre of Education and the hundreds of devotees who live nearby, the larger ashram community consists of more than 2000 people.
Promenade Beach, Pondicherry: Rock Beach (or, known as, "Pondicherry Beach") is the popular stretch of beachfront in the city of Puducherry, India, along the Bay of Bengal. It is a 1.2-kilometer-long stretch in Pondicherry, starts from War Memorial, and ends at Dupleix Park on Goubert Avenue.
Arjuna's Penance: Arjuna's Penance and the descent of the Ganges are portrayed in stone at the Pallava heritage site. Relief of Arjuna's penance is made by cutting rocks. It is one of the largest reliefs in the world, located in Mahabalipuram of Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, India. The relief is more of a canvas of Indian rock-cut sculpture at its best not seen anywhere in India. It is one of the Group of Monuments at Mamallapuram that was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984.
The Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram: It is so named because it overlooks the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It is a structural temple, built with blocks of granite, dating from the 8th century AD. As one of the Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram, it has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. Shore temple is a complex of temples and shrines.
Cave Mandapam Temple: Mahishasuramardini Mandapa (Cave Temple; also known as Yampuri), a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1984, is an example of Indian rock-cut architecture dating from the late 7th century, of the Pallava dynasty. It is a rock-cut cave temple located on a hill, near a lighthouse, along with other caves in Mamallapuram.
Pancharathas: Pancha Rathas (also known as Five Rathas or Pandava Rathas), a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1984, is a monument complex at Mahabalipuram, on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, in the Kancheepuram district of the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Pancha Rathas is an example of monolithic Indian rock-cut architecture. The complex was carved during the reign of King Narasimhavarman.
